Guidelines for offloading have been produced by the International Working Group for the Diabetic Foot (Bus et al, 2024), but these are not always followed in practice for a range of reasons. WebOffloading is a key treatment strategy for the management of diabetic foot ulcers and total contact casts were found to be the most effective devices to achieve ulcer healing. However, they are not without complications and their impact on cost, compliance and quality of life is not well understood.
